以色列真要攻打伊朗？

Israel’s leader is gearing up for a visit to Washington amid growing tensions with Iran.

以色列领导人目前正在准备到华盛顿访问，而这会儿正是以色列和伊朗之间的紧张局势似乎日益加剧之际。

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran’s nuclear program will top the agenda when he meets U.S. President Barack Obama March 5 at the White House.

以色列总理内塔尼亚胡表示，他下个星期、具体说是三月五号到白宫访问、并同美国总统奥巴马举行会晤期间，有关伊朗的核项目问题将是会谈的首要话题。

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Netanyahu referred to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Friday that showed that Iran has sharply increased uranium enrichment.

内塔尼亚胡在耶路撒冷的以色列政府每周例行内阁会议上发表讲话时，引用国际原子能机构星期五出台的一份报告说，该报告的内容充分显示了伊朗目前正在紧锣密鼓地进行发展铀浓缩。

He said the report is “unequivocal proof” of what Israel has been saying all along: that Iran is moving “quickly and unchecked" toward nuclear weapons, in defiance of the international community.

内塔尼亚胡说，国际原子能机构的这份报告为以色列在这个问题上一贯的说法提供了“无庸置疑”的证据，那就是，伊朗正“快速、无人查证”地向发展核武器的方向迈进，置国际社会的舆论于不顾。

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but Israel and the West believe Iran is building nuclear weapons. Israel sees that as a threat to its existence and has threatened to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, if Western diplomacy fails.

伊朗方面表示，其核项目研发是处于和平目的，但是以色列和西方国家都认为伊朗正处在核武器研发和制造阶段。以色列方面将伊朗的举动看作是对自身存在的一个威胁，以色列威胁说，假如西方国家所主张的外交不成功的话，以色列要针对伊朗的核设施先发动武力袭击，以防万一。The United States opposes military action, and it has sent senior officials to Israel during the past month to urge it to give sanctions on Iran more time. But Israeli leaders are not convinced.

美国方面反对以色列方面采取军事行动，并已经在过去这一个月内派遣了不只一名高级外交官员到以色列，敦促以方给外交制裁这一处理方式更多的时间。不过，以色列领导人似乎并没有被完全说服。

Cabinet Minister Yuval Steinitz welcomed the tightening sanctions and said they are starting to bite, but he expressed doubt they will be enough to stop Iran’s quest for the atom bomb.

以色列的一位部长级官员斯坦尼茨对国际社会加大了对伊朗的制裁幅度这一点，表示欢迎，而且说各种制裁措施已经开始奏效了，但是，他并不认为这些制裁措施能够迫使伊朗放弃研发核弹。

President Obama is expected to urge Prime Minister Netanyahu not to attack Iran. But Israel is not making any promises. Officials here say they are grateful for American military aid and political support, but they say that when it comes to Israel’s security and survival, its decisions are its own.

美国总统奥巴马预计将在和以色列总理内塔尼亚胡会面的时候，敦促以方不要武力攻打伊朗。不过，以色列方面到目前为止，并没有给美方任何承诺。以色列官员表示，非常感谢美方这些年来为以色列提供的军事援助以及政治上的支持，但是以方表示，说到以色列的安危和存亡，最后的决定，还是要由以色列人自己来做。
