The Lamp
If I can bear your love like a lamp before me,
When I go down the long steep Road of Darkness,
I shall not fear the everlasting shadows,
Nor cry in terror．
If I can find out God, then I shall find Him；
If none can find Him, then I shall sleep soundly,
Knowing how well on earth your love sufficed me,
A lamp in darkness．
明灯
人生的道路漫漫，
多少险阻艰难；
我不怕恐怖的前程，
又何惧永久的黑暗！
不因艰险而畏缩，
不为恐怖而呼喊；
只要有你的爱拌着我，
那就是黑夜中的明灯一盏。
我的心已满足，
我的心再无不安；
那怕上帝无处寻找，
那怕天国离我更远。
萨拉•蒂斯代尔(Sara Teasdale1884—1933)美国女诗人 在恋人爱的明灯照耀之下,即使身处永久的黑暗之中,诗人也不因艰险而畏缩,不为恐怖而呼喊；只要有爱长伴,即使远离上帝与天国也心甘情愿。对于笃信基督教 的女诗人来说,这已经是离经叛道的奇想了。
