A Miser, to make sure of his property, sold all that he had had converted it into a great lumpof gold, which he hid in a hole in the ground, and went continually to visit and inspect it.

This roused the curiosity of one of his workmen, who, suspecting that there was a treasure, when his master's back was turned went to the spot and stole it away.

When the Miser returned and found the place empty, he wept and tore his hair. But a neighborwho saw him in this extravagant grief, and learned the cause of it,

said: "Fret thyself no longer, but take a stone and put it in the same place, and think that it isyour lump of gold; for, as you never meant to use it, the one will do you as much gold as theother."

Once upon a time, there was a monkey that met a crab and they travelled together in thejungle.

The active monkey found a fruit seed and the crab found a rice ball.

The monkey was greedy and said to the crab, 'Dear crab, let us exchange what we have! "

The crab agreed, so the monkey exchanged his seed for the crab's rice ball. He quicklyswallowed the rice ball.

As for the crab, he went back home and sowed the seed in the open field in front of his house.

Every day, he watered the plant carefully. The plant grew day by day. When summer came, thecrab took shelter under the tree that was now filled with branches and leaves.

When autumn came, the tree was fully grown with fruit. The crab was able to enjoy the fruitevery year.

It was said that the eye of the vulture could see everything clearly as he gazed down from highabove.

A vulture once bragged to the crow, "No one's eyesight can be better than mine."

"You're just boasting about your eyesight without any evidence," said the crow. "If it were so,then tell me what you can see in the wilderness."

The vulture answered, "Don't mock me when I say this, that there is a wheat grain in thewasteland of the wilderness?"

The crow was skeptical over what the vulture said, so both of them flew down towards thatplace to have a look.

As the vulture's position was just above the grain* a net was cast from above and he wastrapped.

It never occurred to the vulture that he could be trapped as he prepared to peck at the grain.

The crow sighed and said, "Oh vulture, what is the use if you can see the small grain but couldnot see the trap set up by the enemy?"

Trapped in the net, the vulture was resigned to his fate. He said, "One cannot escape losinghis life in a vast and boundless ocean* no matter how good a swimmer he is.
