BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinais on the hunt for a Siberian tiger released into the wild by Russian PresidentVladimir Putin, state media said on Thursday, after the animal roamed acrossthe border, likely in search of food.

北京(路透社)——周四国内媒体报道,俄罗斯总统弗拉基米尔•普京放生的西伯利亚虎可能为觅食穿过边境,目前中国正在寻找中。

The tiger, named Kuzia, was one of three ofthe rare wild cats that Putin helped release into Russia'sremote Amur region in eastern Siberia in May.

普京五月在西伯利亚东部协助放生了三只野生虎到俄罗斯偏远地区,这只名叫Kuzia的老虎是其中之一。

Tagged with a tracking device, it has beenspotted in China'sTaipinggou nature reserve in northeastern Heilongjiang province, the official Xinhuanews agency said.

新华社报道,这只老虎身上安装了追踪装置,已被查到在中国东北黑龙江省的太平沟自然保护区出现。

"A Russian expert called to tell usthe location of the tiger and expressed the hope that we can protect it,"nature reserve director Chen Zhigang told Xinhua.

“俄罗斯专家打电话告诉我们虎的位置,希望我们能够保护它。”自然保护区主管陈志刚告诉新华社。

Chen said forestry officers would set updozens of cameras to capture images of the tiger and notify local farmers.

陈先生说林业局人员会设置几十个摄像头追踪老虎出现的画面,并通知当地农民。

The tiger should find plenty of food amongthe reserve's wildlife, Chen said, though officials were prepared to"release cattle" into the area to feed it.

Putin was feted by Russian media in2008 for supposedly saving a television crew from an attack when he shot aSiberian tiger with a tranquilizer gun after it escaped from wildlifespecialists at a national park.
