①thrifty = very careful with money。
②who 引导的定语从句修饰 someone，其中又有 that 引导的定语从句修饰 clothes，这个从句中又有 if 引导的条件状语从句。
③in every direction = all over the place。

①if successful = if he is successful，所以 successful 作表语。
