Summer can be very hot in southern Taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32“C or more. Because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to School or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. Also because of this I stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky. Actually I like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. In the summer vacation that has just ended I went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. This summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. As a second-year senior student I had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. In other words, I must find time to study, too. So I divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.

Once in a while our society seems to be interested in this problem too, but it is a pity that the students‘ own view in this matter is rarely consulted. That is why students often quarrel with their teachers, and this mutual misunderstanding is often detrimental to the students themselves. Most high school students do not really care what their hair style is; what they beef about is perhaps the constant check on their hair length. Why doesn‘t the Ministry of Education release high school students from this particular pressure? No wonder more and more youngsters in school are inclined to commit offenses. It is time to try and keep our educational house in order.

It was already 2:50 when I got up this afternoon. Classes would begin in ten minutes, so I quickly ran out of my house and got on my bike.
On my way to school, I rode very fast. Luckily, every time I got to a crossing, the traffic lights were green. I soon reached the last crossing. This time, the lights were red, but I didn‘t stop my bike. To my surprise, a policeman appeared and stopped me. “Why didn‘t you stop when the traffic lights were red?” he asked.
“Classes will begin in no time,” I ing this, he criticized me for not having obeyed the traffic rules. I drooped my head and said, “I‘m sorry.” I was afraid that he wouldn‘t let me go. I was about to cry when he told me to obey the traffic rules next time and let me go. I thanked him and rode away.
Though I was late for school this afternoon, I had learned something: one must obey the rules at any time.

It was so hot and suffocating in the room that I could do nothing, So after supper I came to the yard to relax. Sitting in the yard, I looked at the sky. It was clear without a bit of cloud. Little stars were twinkling quietly like bright eyes.
I looked for the Milky Way, the Altair and Vega, which made me think of the legendary cowherd and the fairy. What a mysterious world it is! All the stars in the sky mix their lays of light together although they are not so brilliant as the sun and not so clear as the moon. They shine also on the ground which turns into a wonderful world.
I love the starry sky in summer.
