Dave: She means business, for sure.

Elvin: Most salespeople seem like 3) half-brains. Zina's definitely an 4) exception.

Dave: We'd better get back to work.

Elvin: Yeah, I'm not too worried about Vince, but I'd hate to face Zina if we don't 5) deliver...

A: It's definitely time you got a haircut.

B: I know. My hair is always in my eyes.

A: I still can't believe Mary got into college.

B: Well, she meant business this time.

A: Why are the police outside?

B: They mean business. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come here.

1) be down on...

2) in action

3) half-brain (n.)

4) exception (n.) 例外

5) deliver (v.)

Zina: He's on the phone right now. I 1) imagine he's finding out.

Dave: What's he going to say?

Zina: He might find it a little 2) awkward, but he's going to thank me.

Dave: Are you sure?

Zina: Yes. Because I'm going to help him become a very, very rich man.

A: What would you do if Matt Daemon asked you out?

B: I can't even imagine that he would talk to me...

【On the phone

与phone搭配的动词包括answer, speak on ,talk on。 “接听电话”是answer the phone,绝不可误用receive, speak/talk on the phone是“在电话中讲话”。而“你的电话”在英文里绝非your telephone,应说It's for you或You are wanted on the phone。

A: Janet, you are wanted on the phone.

B: I'm sorry. I Just can't answer the phone right now.

Zina: I hope you're not turning into a 2) sissy on me, Dave.

Dave: Look, I want to succeed just as much as you do. Well, maybe not quite that much.

Zina: If we let Vince and Elvin continue to 3) run things, InfoKing is going to fail.

Dave: What are you trying to say?

Zina: I'm saying this ship needs a new captain. 4) Are you with me, or aren't you?

A: Stop it, or you'll be sorry!

B: Stop making idle threats and prove it.

【I guess not.

在这段对话中I guess not. I guess you don't make idle threats.

A: Gina's not going to the party.

B: I guess not.

【turn into someone在……

A: Could I treat you to dinner tonight?

Dave: The only person who seems confident the software will be done on time is Zina.

Elvin: Yeah, she is some kind of Superwoman, isn't she?

Dave: 1) Failure just isn't an 2) option for her. I'm glad she's on our team.
