Mother’s Day was first suggested in the United States in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe as a day dedicated to peace. A campaign to establish a National Mother’s Day was begun in 1907. It was successful; by 1911 Mother’s Day was celebrated in almost every state in recognition of the influence mothers have in the making of better citizens.

Nowadays, Mother’s Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for mom. Most countries in the world celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May.

Carnation is regarded as international dedicated to mother’s flower. It is a symbol of health, youth and longevity.

Red Carnation—a symbol of passion, justice, nicety and never giving up; wish mother a good health and longevity.

Pink Carnation—pray mother keep young and beautiful forever.

Yellow Carnation—represent gratitude.

Mother of our country flower is a day lily flower, which is also known as Wangyoucao. It is a symbol of great maternal love.

“M ” is for the million things she gave me.

“O ” means only that she’s growing old.

“T ” is for the tears she shed to save me.

“H ” is for her heart of purset gold.

“E ” is for her eyes, with the love-light shining.

“R ” means right, and right she’ll always be.

Put them all together, they spell ‘MOTHER’.

A mother’s love is like a circle, it has no beginning and ending.

In this festival, I will spend the day with my mother. In the morning, I will cook the food that she like most to her, then, go shopping with my mom and buy clothes to her.
